Noise, Noise, Noise

My upstairs neighbor loves to wash his clothes late at night. Does it not occur to anyone but me that a washing machine (with all of it's water running and draining) is quite loud?

Perhaps a little 5:00am guitar practice is in order...

He/she needs one of those newer 2-in-1 washer-dryers that are ultra-energy efficient, very quiet, and use a LOT less water.

Ecologically sound and also contribues to noise reduction. My old roomie got one in his condo, and it makes a heck of a difference on the noise front. Easier on the clothes in terms of wear and fraying, too.

Maybe I'll put a note on his door. :-)

I'm not sure what kind he has, but it's fairly new. However, it seems to drain and fill up 3-4 times for each wash cycle.

Aren't we encouraged to wash clothes at night so as not to overload the "power grid"?

Yes, after 7:00pm I believe but that is during the summer. 10:00pm to midnight is a bit late when you have shared pipes and walls.
