DNA Studies

Science Declares Human / Chimp Split was a Messy Divorce

Cool.

Now what I want to know is how long ago did human and plant species diverge? How awkward it must have been when first a bipedal hominid began to view plants as food rather than as relatives.

Your point is well taken, but I don't think that evolutionary posits that ALL forms of life stem from one single source. Rather, it's my understanging that the theory is that there are different trees with different branches, to make a somewhat clumsy analogy.

Your skepticism is duly noted, but let's not forget that chimps' and humans' DNA is something like 98% identical. That's a thinkpiece in my book. [Although admittedly not in the GOOD BOOK!]

Whoa! Sorry for the typos in the above comment. I meant to say "evolutionary theory" in the first sentence.
